Focusing on innovative solutions for the digital transformation of commercial buildings, AVITECH Group, together with its technology partners PADS4, Tridium, Helvar, BCR, and ELTEK, organized a landmark event for the Romanian market on June 9 in Bucharest, under the name „SMART DIGITAL BUILDINGS”.
Smart technologies and the impact of digitization create the foundation for seeking, developing, and obtaining new concrete solutions for monitoring and controlling systems in current commercial buildings, allowing occupants to experience a higher level of comfort, performance, sustainability, and safety. The event targeted architects and designers, general contractors, real estate developers and consultants, project managers, and other industry specialists, presenting design solutions, financing, and case studies focused on smart digital buildings.
Among the specialists who spoke were Romanian and international speakers from both the AVITECH Group and its technology partner companies, with solid experience in the field.
Smart Automation for Digital Buildings
In an interactive setting, discussions and presentations centered on the central role of BMS systems in new commercial building projects both locally and abroad. Practical solutions for implementation and financing aimed at enhancing buildings through BMS systems were discussed.
The event, held across three panels, started with the introduction of the guests and the general framework of the discussion, where Gabriela Bondrea, Commercial Sales Manager at AVITECH Group, emphasized the importance of BMS systems and efficient and sustainable resource management in a commercial building.
Panel 1 continued with a brief history of AVITECH and the numerous milestones it has achieved in the local market. Key points marking AVITECH's development over two decades were highlighted, from implementing the first automation to the most recent and representative BMS projects completed by AVITECH in Romania.
From PADS4, Emmanuel Bonnargent, Head of Global Sales, discussed the importance of the software systems developed by the Dutch company as a platform for an intelligent user experience in a digital building.

Continuing his presentation, Irek Pacula, Channel Sales Manager at Tridium, detailed how implementing the Niagara Framework platform can significantly contribute to minimizing energy consumption in a building or office complex.
„The economic factor is a very strong motivator for minimizing energy consumption. We all see how much energy costs have risen, and we all expect them to continue rising in the future. The client will want to change the environment of a building and its systems to save as much as possible and achieve the best return on investment in the shortest time. This can be achieved by using better BMS systems” – said Irek Pacula.
Panel 1 concluded with Przemysław Skorupa, Regional Director at Helvar, presenting some of the intelligent lighting control solutions for a digital building.
The second panel of the conference was dedicated to financing solutions for energy efficiency improvements in a commercial building, with Cristina Daina, Corporate Lending Product Manager, and Sebastian Mihai Staicu, Project and Leveraged Finance Manager, from BCR taking the floor.
Case Studies
In its final part (probably the most engaging), the event was dedicated to case studies, where concrete examples of BMS systems implemented in various commercial buildings both in Romania and abroad were detailed.
One of the highlights of this panel was the case study of the J8 Office Park project, in Bucharest, where AVITECH designed, supplied, installed, and commissioned BMS systems (HVAC, electrical installations, sanitary installations, critical installations, metering), in addition to fire detection, video surveillance, and video intercom systems.
The project is also distinguished by its BREEAM Outstanding certification – the first of this level in the country. From the developing company, Portland Trust, the case study was presented by Corneliu Bârsan, Senior Project Manager, and details about the BMS system implemented by AVITECH were provided by our BMS engineers, Adrian Dumitru and Mihai Baigăș.
At the international level, the case studies presented by key guests were arguments in favor of the solutions proposed by our technology partners PADS4, Tridium, and Helvar, with a wide range of applications, from office buildings and shopping centers to hospitals and airports.
